Owing to its exceptional position and geographic relief of Topcider, a river valley with rich flora and numerous springs, this area has been constantly developing for the past two centuries as a leisure and picnic resort. Austrian summer houses and hunting cabins were built in Topcider in the eighteenth century, while Turkish high officials used to build their log huts and come for excursions. Topcider was the venue of numerous important events. It was the camping area of Karadjordje’s insurgents, national assemblies used to be held there as well as commemorations of important historic events. As a result of its protracted and continuous development, the area of Topcider comprises numerous cultural-historic monuments, noteworthy places and places of interest, beautiful landscapes and rarities. It is a homogeneous complex created by natural resources and human endeavour.
