The sports and recreation center 11. april was founded in 1979 and it is open throughout the year. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the student city in Novi Beograd (New Belgrade). Within the complex there are three outdoor pools with capacity of up to 2.500 swimmers (small, medium and Olympic), three indoor swimming pools (small, medium and Olympic), modernly equipped fitness center, air-conditioned hall for table tennis, small sports hall, outdoor and indoor tennis courts, a universal sports hall and a bowling court. The spa center represents a true relaxation zone and includes a Finnish and infrared sauna, jacuzzi and tepidarium.

The facilities that SRC 11. april has are mostly intended for recreation. The renovated indoor swimming pool is a host of the Red Star water polo club, and the outdoor pools in the summer period are also used by the water polo club Zemun. In the summer season in 2006, the sports and recreation center hosted young Serbian and Croatian national teams, as well as the Serbian Championship in water polo for the generation of '94. Within the complex there are tennis academy of celebrated tennis player Janko Tipsarevic, table tennis academy Kocic, athletic club Novi Beograd and shooting club Trofej. An interesting fact is that Ana Ivanovic, Janko Tipsarevic and Darko Madjarovski made the first steps in their career right here, and in the hall for table tennis, even today, well-known representative Aleksandar Karakasevic can be seen.

The Secretariat for Sports and Youth of the City of Belgrade, the Municipality of Novi Beograd and the SRC 11. april organize free swimming schools and other programmes for citizens of all ages. Free fitness programmes for mothers and daughters and swimming schools for elementary school students are some of the most popular free programmes. Concerts, parties and other events are organized at the outdoor pools during the summer season.
