Matija Ban - Serbian poet, diplomat, professor and visionary fell in love with the former Golo Brdo, barren and desolate. Thanks to his dedication, a summer house surrounded by orchards, grain and flowers was built here. In his honor, the people of Belgrade renamed this place Banovac during his lifetime, and later - Banovo Brdo.
