World Voluntary Blood Donor Day, 14th June, has been celebrated for 20 years as a form of support for blood donors. This day is an opportunity to express gratitude for donated blood and blood components, to highlight the enormous importance that donors have in the lives of patients, but also to call for action and motivate other individuals to join the global donation movement, all with the goal of always having enough blood for patients who need it.

This year, the World Health Organization especially emphasizes the importance of blood transfusion in neonatology (mother and baby care), as well as in various natural or induced disasters. Blood transfusion plays a key role in the care of patients who need blood and blood components because it makes patients live longer and with better quality.

The Blood Transfusion Institute of Serbia will be open from 07:00 to 19:00 on Friday, 14th June. The traditional blood donation campaign is being held again this year in the "Studentski grad" dormitory from 11:00 to 15:00. Blood donation promotion will also be held in Cukarica, where the red bus will be parked from 09:00 to 14:00 in Pozeska Street in front of the Health Center. Valjevo and Sabac are the cities where, in addition to Belgrade, voluntary blood donation will be organized. Every blood donor will receive a gift t-shirt as a small sign of attention.

All people in good health are invited to celebrate World Voluntary Blood Donor Day in the most humane way, to become and remain blood donors.
