Vracar

Vracar is one of the oldest Belgrade toponyms. It had appeared before the Ottoman period. All the armies that fought for Belgrade went through Vracar, either to conquer it or to liberate it. This is the smallest but the most densely populated area in Belgrade.

Vracar is well known for its taverns. One of the most important institutions located on Vracar is the Institute for protection of Cultural Monuments. In the middle of municipality there is Kalenic market, one of the oldest green markets in Belgrade.
