Stari DIF

cover image

Built in the time of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, as the first center of specific purposes for physical education, i.e. school for physical education. After 30 years of operation (1968), the school has been moved to a new building in Kosutnjak, and DIF has continued to raise awareness about the importance of practicing physical activity. The building does not have the capacity for professional sports, but is considered a leading institution for recreational sports activities. In the building there are a gym, a fitness center, a large and a small pool (and the entire hydro block), football, basketball, volleyball halls and outdoor courts for team sports and tennis which in winter turn into ice skating rink.

People know the building as Stari DIF, but few know what this acronym DIF means: drzavni institut za fiskulturu (State Institute of Physical Education).
