One of the most significant works of Serbian painting, "Kosovo Maiden" by Uros Predic (1857-1953), will be available for the Belgrade public to see on Vidovdan, June 28, at the Residence of Princess Ljubica.
Inspired by the epic poem of the same name from the Kosovo cycle, the composition depicts the Kosovo Maiden helping the wounded Orlovic Pavle on the battlefield, uniting the motifs of mercy, self-sacrifice, and humanity. At the same time, the work carries strong symbolism associated with the Kosovo tradition, which is deeply woven into the cultural and historical memory of the Serbian people.
"Kosovo Maiden" is kept in the collection of the Museum of the City of Belgrade and occupies a special place in the oeuvre of Uros Predic, representing one of the most recognizable and beloved works of national art for over a century.
