Rakovica is located on the southern part of Belgrade in the lower part of the Topcider River and it is 10 km away from the city center. A significant part of the municipality of Rakovica consists of forests and parks, and above all, the Miljakovac and Kosutnjak forests. Rakovica with 244 hectares under the forest and 180 hectares under public green areas is one of the city's municipalities with the most green areas.
The Topcider River flows through Rakovica. It is 30 km long and flows into the Sava River. Its source is in Lipovicka Forest at the altitude of 192 m. It runs to Ripanj (municipality of Vozdovac), passes between villages Pinosava and Rusanj (municipality of Cukarica) and enters in the municipality of Rakovica through Resnik. The Topcider River flows through Kijevo, Labudovo brdo, Knezevac, Miljakovac and Kanarevo brdo. Then it leaves Rakovica, flows through the Topcider Forest (municipality of Savski venac) and flows into to the Sava River at the altitude of 69 meters.
Pariguz Lake is located at the foot of Mount Avala, in Resnik. Lake length is 700 meters, its width is 120, and depth is 12,5 meters. The accumulation of Pariguz was created in 1990. It was created by constructing a dam due to floods caused by water from three sources. Until there was a lake, springs made mud that was considered to be healing and help in hemorrhoid treatment. Hence the name of the lake - Pariguz.
