The third Manak`s Cultural Summer

Cultural manifestation honoring Belgrade from the 19th century period that brings the romantic epoch back to the center of the main happenings

For the third time in a row, Manak`s house organizes a manifestation of rich content that will, through various performances, concerts and poetry evenings, bring to life the spirit of old Belgrade, which during the 19th century was the true capital of cultural and educational events. The Manak`s Cultural Summer is organized by the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade and Tangram Center. The programme started on 8th July and will last until 29th July, beginning at 20:30, and tickets can be purchased at the entrance of Manak`s House at the price of 300 dinars.


The cultural programme is divided into several separate entities: the Theatre on Djumruk, the Savamala Concept, Cinema Manak and Bohemian Savamala. Organizers proudly emphasize that this year`s edition will meet the expectations of even the most demanding audience because the programme is carefully selected and adapted to the generations of all ages. Visitors can expect concerts of classical music, jazzed sevdah, old city music and multimedia music-scenic performances. The theatre programme is based on chamber plays and is dedicated to strong female drama characters. Films that will experience the premiere mark the anniversary of the Great War and promote the tradition and culture of Stara Planina.


Poet Vitomir Vico Dardic opened a manifestation in Bohemia Savamala on 8th July, in the evening entitled "Medju svojima", which honored Vladislav Petkovic Dis and Milutin Bojic. This year marks the 100th anniversary of their death. "Ingmar Likvins Noc kristalne pesnice" (Ingmar Likvins Night of the Crystal Fist) directed by Vladimir Putnik, starring Sladjana Cukic and Vladimir Tesovic, opened the Theatre on Djumruk. Documentary film directed by Vladimir Djordjevic "Jubileji: Nis ratna prestonica" (Jubilees: Nis war capital) opened the Kino Manak. Thursday 20th July - Savamala concert: Nove gradske pesme (New city songs) - premiere concert of old city music. Djura i mornari perform.

Friday 21st July - Savamala concert: Ubrzanje... od romantizma do 21. veka (Acceleration... from the Romanticism to the 21st century) - concert of classical music. Trio Atrium performs.

Saturday 22nd July - Savamala concert: Sevdah urban - concert of modern covers of ethno and sevdah music. The performer is a soloist Nemanja Guzijan.

Thursday 27th July - Theatre on Djumruk: Ljiljana Bralovic, Ulica crvenih fenjera (Red Lantern Street) - Theatre play directed by Jovan Ljubenovic, starring Marija Masal.

Friday 28th July - Cinema Manak: Jos samo malo - documentary-featured ethno film dedicated to Stara Planina, directed by Vladimir Manic.

Saturday 29th July - Bohemian Savamala: Beograd bez sna (Sleepless Belgrade) - music-scenic programme about rock Belgrade during the 80`s. Djura i mornari, Milan Burda and Boris Djukic perform.
