International Documentary Film Festival in Belgrade titled "I know you are here"

The International Documentary Film Festival Beldocs is being held in Belgrade from 7th to 14th May. At ten locations in the in representative cinema halls, 98 films in 14 programme units will be presented to the audience. The eleventh festival will host over 100 guests from the world of documentary professional film.


Serbian competition programme consists of nine films, of which the audience will see five premieres. Front page and Planet Earth selections are films inspired by political, social, ecological and anthropological topics. Incredible people and events are the themes of the Fireworks programme. The connection of the cultural space of the republics of the former Yugoslavia is the theme of the Retrospective programme, and guests are Austrian director Ulrich Seidl and Slovenian director Vlado Skafar. Radical documentaries and hybrid genres are gathered in the Meteora programme, and the special guest will be Portuguese artist João Pedro Rodrigues. Growing up is the most common topic in the international competition programme, which is especially strong this year.


The festival is being opened in the Sava Center on 7th May at 19:30 with two domestic documentaries - "Poslednja avantura Kaktus Bate" by Djordje Markovic and "Slatko od Nista" by Boris Mitic. The guest of the festival is Ruth Beckermann who, after the victory in Berlin, presents The Waldheims Walzer film - a new light on the official history of Europe and the first screening is scheduled for 10th May from 16:00 in Dom omladine (the Youth Center). On the same day, at the Cultural Center Vladan Divljan, at 19:00, there will be an international premiere of a film from the selection of biographical documentaries about Vivienne Westwood by Lorna Tucker - Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist.
