Through more than 100 exhibited objects that adorned the family home of Grujić, it is possible to create a picture of an elegant life of Belgrade families who followed certain, but not necessarily, rigid rules. The exhibition provides answers to the questions of how a tea party was organized, how a gala dinner was organized, how people dressed, how they behaved in society, what cultural events were followed and of course, above all, how brilliant conversation was conducted. All this set the tone for the everyday life of this family.
By getting to know different generations of female members of the Grujić family, through their activities, we learn more about the values of one environment and one time, as well as the position of women from a higher social class.
The life of the capital seen through personal objects, that is, through the cultural heritage of the Grujić family and their heirs, provides an insight into the aspirations of Serbian society towards new outlooks on life, new perspectives and challenges.
The author of the exhibition is Lazar Šećerović, one of the founders of the Jevrem Grujić House - Šećerović Conić Collection, with professional collaboration with Jelena Sekulović, senior curator of the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade.
