Until 19th August, The Residence of Princess Ljubica will be the location where the exhibition entitled "Female Rulers and Wives" will be held. In addition to biographical data and interesting things from lives of the wives of the Serbian rulers from the dynasties Obrenovic and Karadjordjevic, a part of the setting also refers to the wife of the ruler of the new state - Yugoslavia.

After the Second Serbian Uprising and liberation from the Turks, the "first ladies" of Serbia were Princess Ljubica, spouse of Milos Obrenovic, Princess Julia, spouse of Prince Mihailo and Queen Natalija, spouse of King Milan. The most famous and most controversial was certainly Queen Draga, spouse of King Aleksandar Obrenovic, who is still regarded as the cause of the May Coup and the end of the Obrenovic dynasty. Female rulers from the house of Karadjordjevic were Persida Karadjordjevic, spouse of Prince Aleksandar, and Marija, the only Yugoslav Queen, spouse of King Aleksandar Karadjordjevic.

The exhibition brings the life of Serbian female rulers from the perspective of quite ordinary women with all their joys, desires, needs and fates that were tragic. A rich setting is a fusion of photos, letters, a collection of objects from everyday life and a part of preserved personal items such as clothing and spectacular jewelry. An inspirational and educational one - the exhibition that must be visited.
