Mark Olson is an American singer and songwriter. He founded two alternative country bands, Jayhawks and Original Harmony Ridge Creekdippers. Band Jayhawks was founded in the year of 1985 with the singer and guitarist Gary Louris. The audio edition Blue Earth was released in 1987, and then they signed a record deal with the record house Def American that released their second album in 1992 under the name of Hollywood Town Hall. The single Waiting For The Sun brought them great success and big tour. After the tour, the band returned to the studio and during the year of 1995 the album Tomorrow the Green Grass was recorded. Their success continued throughout the whole year, the single Blue got great reactions and Mark Olson made a decision to leave the band. The reason behind his action was the sickness of his wife Victoria Villiams.

Specific appearance on the American folk scene, as they called Victoria,  made a big boom in the 80s. Mark and Victoria started their lives together in the Joshua Tree desert in California. Unfortunately, during 1992, Victoria found out that she was sick from a disease called Multiple sclerosis. Her manager gathered big musicians like Giant Sand, Pearl Jam, Lou Reed, Matthew Sweet, the Jayhawks, Lucinda Viliams and many others in order to record the album named Sweet Relief which was a way to raise enough money for the medication of the young artist. After the break, Mark founded a band called The Original Harmony Ridge Crekdippers in the year of 1997 with which he recorded two albums, Pacific Coast Rambler and Zola and the Tulip Tree. Autobiographic album My own Jo Ellen was released in the year of 2000.
