Devin Townsend with his band Devin Townsend Project is performing for the first time in our country. Metal band members from Canada are coming to the Youth Center of Belgrade (Dom omladine Beograda) to promote the latest audio release "Transcendence" on 15th August at 21:00. The tickets for the concert are available at the box offices of the Eventim network, the music store Felix in Belgrade and Mungos in Novi Sad. Devin Townsend is a fantastic and innovative guitarist who moves boundaries in metal music. He formed the band Strapping Young Lad in 1994, and until the break in 2007, they released five studio albums. Along with a quality solo career, he has achieved remarkable cooperation with Casualties of Cool, Punky Brüster, Steve Vai, Ayreon, Anneke van Giersbergen, The Wildhearts, Front Line Assembly and many others. His work is characterized by an authentic combination of progressive metal, rock, ambient and electronic music. The energy it conveys on live performances is incredible, it is an experience that must be felt.
Talented musician, born in 1972, formed The Devin Townsend Band. The team recorded two albums before disbanding both The Devin Townsend Band and Strapping Young Lad at the same time, and the reason is overwhelming by the big tours and the desire to have private life in the epicenter. After a break that lasted two years, inspired Townsend launched a new team - the Devin Townsend Project. It was planned to release four albums that will be in completely different styles, Ki, Addicted, Deconstruction and Ghost, however, the founder decided to continue with studio work and concert tours.
When it's all summed up, Devin Townsend has released 22 studio and 3 concert albums so far. Competent critics compare the personal style of vocal production, that this musician cherishes, with the styles that Phil Spector and Frank Zappa cherished. The versatile vocal abilities give him the opportunity to perform from screaming technique through opera sections, with equal quality. Still, he is loyal to heavy metal music.
