Belgrade celebrates The Feast of the Ascension of Jesus Christ - Spasovdan

The city's Patronal Feast is celebrated with liturgy and big liturgical procession on 6th June

The Feast of the Ascension of Jesus Christ - Spasovdan, 6th June. The Patronal Feast of the city of Belgrade since 1403. On that day, despot Stefan Lazarevic named Belgrade the capital of Serbia. The host of the Patronal Feast, Mayor Zoran Radojicic invites all residents of the city and dear guests to join the celebration of a special date.

The liturgy will be held in the Church of the Ascension (Vaznesenjska crkva) from where the liturgical procession will start through the central city streets. After reading the three prayers, the liturgical procession will return to the starting point, right to the courtyard of the church.

The first reading of prayer is at Terazije fountain and it will be for the health of the population. The next reading of prayer will be dedicated to the rescue from suffering, to peace and progress and will be at the Cathedral Church. The last, third reading of prayer for the sake of the souls of the fallen heroes of Belgrade will be in the courtyard of the Church of the Ascension (Vaznesenjska crkva).
